Employee Spotlight: Glen Miyamura, Senior Associate

At AG Consulting Partners, we are honored to work with a diverse group of people with a variety of talents and interests. We sat down with Expert Workforce Senior Associate, Glen Miyamura, to learn more about his work and passions outside of the office.

Can you give us a short summary of your background?

I earned an undergraduate degree in Animation and began my career in the video game industry. I started in quality assurance and transferred to project management and quality assurance testing for an online marketing software. In parallel, I earned my MBA and subsequently leveraged my degree and background in video games to land my current client role.

What project are you currently working on?

I’m currently the Online Category Lead in North America for a regional Digital Stores team. I support managing business analytics and tracking sales performance. I escalate my findings through the proper channels to help inform decisions that lead to stronger sales growth.

What are three interesting things about yourself that you feel others should know?

  1. I love soccer—I grew up with it in Korea and I’ve maintained my love for it ever since.
  2. I absolutely love animation and I’m a huge Disney fan! If anybody needs to know any Disney history or background, let me know. I can give you a full lecture.
  3. I love being outdoors. I grew up camping and hiking, so I like to take my Jeep Wrangler out on the weekend to camp and explore in the woods. One of my favorite places is Lake Kachess off I-90.

Where’s your favorite place to travel?

Honestly, I would have to say Okinawa in Japan. I recently went back for a friend’s wedding and played on the island again. It’s similar to Hawaii, Guam, or any tropical island, but it feels like it’s stuck in the late 80s or early 90s because of the architecture and the type of cars people drive. They also have that simple, laid back island lifestyle that’s so refreshing.

What’s the best movie you’ve seen recently?

I HIGHLY recommend the new Spiderman movie, Into the Spiderverse. Story-wise it’s great—it’s classic Spiderman, but graphically and visually it’s unlike any other movie so far. The way they combine so many different art styles into one and make it work is phenomenal.

What’s the best career advice you’ve received?

Set long-term goals for yourself. Don’t ask yourself what you want your next position to be, but rather the position beyond that: where do you want to be in two steps? It’s important to have a long-term vision if you’re going to achieve your career goals. Your current position should help you reach that next step.
