At AG Consulting Partners, we are honored to work with a diverse group of people with a variety of talents and interests. This month, we are highlighting prospective Management Consulting team member Alex Noakes to learn more about his work and passions outside of the office.
What’s your background? Where did you grow up and go to school?
I was born in England and moved to Seattle in 2008. I attended Eastlake High School and received my Bachelor’s in Finance from Washington State University.
What were you doing before you came to AG Consulting Partners?
After graduating from Washington State University, I moved back to Seattle where I started my career as an Analyst for a real estate asset management firm in Kirkland. Due to my background in real estate and Finance, I was involved in the sales side of the business that purchased, sold, and leased commercial properties all over the Puget Sound. I also spent time working on contracts, creating marketing content, project management and financial analysis. We were a lean team, so everyone picked up what was necessary to be successful.
Can you tell me about your current project?
I am currently supporting an Enterprise Strategy Planning and Execution team. We just wrapped up an extensive 2-day Strategic Account workshop event in Las Vegas for over 1,000 attendees. My day-to-day now is primarily supporting my client team land strategy to field seller communities all over the world.
What makes you nerd out?
I have always loved videogames. While I don’t have the time to play as much I’d like, I still try to play with friends when I can. I’m also very invested in European soccer and I am picking up on the NFL as well. I will often wake up at 6:00 AM on the weekend to catch the European matches.
What podcasts are you currently listening to?
I mostly listen to podcasts for entertainment while I’m stuck in traffic. I really enjoy comedy, sports radio, and occasionally BiggerPockets to satisfy my real estate itch.
What are your tips for success?
I never stop learning and always have a skill or goal I am working toward, no matter how small. It can be anything from learning new shortcuts in Excel, to finding better ways to communicate with clients. I think it is important to explore where you can grow and push yourself to acquire skills that you don’t have.
What are your biggest passions?
I’m always excited by new technology and its implications on the world around us. From space exploration to virtual reality, I’m constantly trying to push my understanding further. I love working with our clients because they always impress me with their ability to innovate in cutting-edge environments.
