Employee Spotlight: George Rushin, Senior Manager

At AG Consulting Partners, we are honored to work with a diverse group of people with a variety of talents and interests. Today, we are highlighting George Rushin, our new Management Consulting Senior Manager, to learn more about his work and passions outside of the office.

What’s your background? Where did you grow up and go to school?
I grew up in Pennsylvania and attended Syracuse University after high school. I spent some time living in Alaska after college and landed in the Seattle area about twelve years ago.

What are you most excited about working at AG Consulting Partners?
Coming from a firm as large as Deloitte, the ability to work quickly and creatively with a tightly knit group of people is most exciting to me. I’m also looking forward to getting directly involved with business development.

What’s one interesting thing about you we should all know?
I’ve visited and spent at least one night in all but four states – Alabama, Arkansas, Mississippi and Hawaii.

What is the most important lesson you’ve learned in your career so far?
Not to doubt my ability to contribute on any engagement, no matter my familiarity with the subject matter or team. Speaking up, seeking clarity, and embracing creativity – even without all the information – is critical to project success and long-term client satisfaction.

What’s your favorite book and why?
Those Guys Have All the Fun: Inside the World of ESPN stands out to me for three reasons. First, it is a very easy read. It’s about 700 pages, if I remember correctly, and I read it in just a few days, which is unusual for me. Second, it’s an oral history and I enjoy the candor from so many people about high profile sporting events through the years. Third, it’s a good reminder that no matter how polished and proper organizations present themselves, there’s usually a mess behind the scenes.

Where is your favorite place to vacation during Summer?
My wife and I visit Willamette Valley and the Oregon Coast every summer, often in the same trip. Both are relatively close to Seattle and allow us to travel with our dog. I’ve been to several wine regions in the United States and think Willamette Valley is underrated. The Pinot Noir offerings are exceptional and it’s a reasonably priced area to taste wine and visit.

White Rose Estate is my favorite winery in the area. The proximity to the Pacific Ocean on the Oregon Coast puts me at ease like nothing else.  That’s where I go to relax.

Roseanna’s Oceanside Café (in Oceanside, OR) is one of my favorite restaurants in the country.  I try to eat there whenever I’m in the area.
