At AG Consulting Partners, we are honored to work with a diverse group of people with a variety of talents and interests. This month, we are highlighting Jason Nguyen to learn more about his work and passions outside of the office.
What’s your background?
I am proud to say I have a blue-collar background. I have been working since I was 15 and put myself through college by working as an automotive detailer, residential construction builder, and hotel concierge (at the same time) while balancing full-time class loads. The school of hard knocks is what shaped my professional career as I carry the same work ethic to my present-day career path of professional services in management consulting.
Where did you grow up and go to school?
I was born and raised right here in Washington state. I was raised in the greater eastside in the Juanita/Kirkland area, where I attended Lake Washington High (go Kangs!) before advancing to the University of Washington where I studied Technology Innovation Management and Marketing.
Can you tell me about your current project?
I am currently supporting a technology client’s partner program, managing incentives, payment and dispute processing operations.
How are you staying motivated, productive, and sane during this extended period of remote work?
Two words; the people. If it were not for the amazing people on my team (including the client), it’d be challenging to stay productive/motivated to drive value for the greater goals of the program.
Where is the best place you’ve traveled to and why?
It is a toss-up between Iceland and Peru. Iceland because of the natural wonders, the collective sense of serenity of the people, and their respect for the environment. And Peru because Machu Pichu was a lifelong bucket-list destination.
What’s something most people don’t know about you?
This may be a career-limiting admission, but I’m a die-hard electronic music fanatic. Music festivals feed my soul. On the less extreme end of the spectrum, I am an avid Dave Matthews Band fan and love playing both kinds of music while making custom furniture in my woodworking shop.
Favorite books, movies, or podcasts?
Books: Black Hawk Down, The DaVinci Code collection and the Maus series
Movies: Toy Story, Wall-E, and Chef
Podcasts: What are Podcasts? Are those like cassettes?
