Kylee Fortygin, Principal
We’re honored to showcase our team’s diversity, talents, and interests at AG Consulting Partners.
This month, learn more about our Principal Consultant, Kylee Fortygin, who was one of the first employees at AGCP and is celebrating nearly ten years with the company! Kylee shares her experience watching the firm grow and her unique bucket list item you may need to add to your own list if you enjoy winter sports.
What’s your background, where did you grow up, and what did you enjoy doing?
I was born and raised in the Seattle area. I love nature, hiking, and hugging big trees, so it’s the perfect spot! I wanted to become a famous actress when I grew up. I was in the school drama club and performed in a lot of plays – my most significant role was playing Lois Lane in Superman. I also got into modeling and did a couple of full-page newspaper ads, and I was a live mannequin for Bellevue Fashion Week. I consider that my little claim to fame.
Thankfully, my mother steered me in the direction of practicality, and I earned my BA in Business with a focus in Marketing from the UW Foster School of Business when I was 21 years old.
You’re celebrating ten years with AGCP this year; how has your experience been?
I was one of the original employees to join AGCP and I’m still here watching us grow – I think we hit 100 full-time employees recently! It’s been amazing to see the company grow while also maintaining the values and strengths that brought me here in the first place.
Over the years, a huge success has been our ability to delegate, which is traditionally tricky because you need to trust other people to shepherd your ideas. All of us who have been involved in the firm’s growth have done a great job of picking the right people to carry these values forward.
When I was interviewed to join the firm, we were super small at the time, so it was incredibly personal and casual. The individual connection element was fantastic, and we have subsequently built a brand around that value. By extension, we heavily emphasize referrals and continue to build on personal connections, which has helped sustain our growth and ensure our core values aren’t lost over time.
Can you tell me about your current consulting project?
I’ve been working with a global tech client on a program that helps customers use cloud technology since 2014. For the first five years, I was on the project’s internal side, supporting employees with business operations and change management. I completed a certification in change management and transferred over to the partner team in 2017, where I’m still focused on business operations and change management but for program partners now.
If you could go on a road trip with anyone, who would it be with, and where would you go?
I would repeat one that I already took with my husband again! My grandpa was kind enough to give me a great deal on his old convertible, and we ended up driving it back home to Seattle from Kansas City. We visited multiple National parks on that trip, including a very short stop in Yellowstone which was incredibly beautiful. I want to go back with my husband one day and see the buffaloes!
We went to Moah, Utah, where we drove around with the top down and checked out all the amazing rock structures. We didn’t even have to get out of the car to see the view with our convertible! It was a very special experience.
Do you have any bucket list items you’re looking forward to crossing off?
Snowboarding in Argentina. They have some world-class slopes and are also renowned for their steak – I love the idea of that combo. I was trying to make it happen for my 30th birthday, but unfortunately, it didn’t work out with the pandemic, so I’ll have to push it to my 40th birthday or another significant occasion.
Thank you, Kylee, for your hard work and continued dedication to AGCP, and congratulations on nearly ten years at the firm!
