Isabella Garzon-Byrd, Recruiter

We’re honored to showcase our team’s diversity, talents, and interests at AG Consulting Partners. This month, learn more about our Lead Recruiter Isabella Garzon-Byrd, her experience on the team, why she loves being a recruiter, and the unique cuisine she would eat for the rest of her life.

What’s your background, where did you grow up, and what do you enjoy doing?

I recently moved to Kenmore, Washington, but I was born and raised in Bellevue. My extended family also lives in the Bellevue area, so I’ve always been very close to my cousins.

When the weather is nice, I spend time with my sister and cousins. We enjoy getting brunch and going to the beach. My favorite beaches are Idylwood Beach Park and Alki Beach. I also love taking photos of the sunset.

Tell us about your journey to AGCP and your experience as the Lead Recruiter.

I had some experience as a consultant with another company before joining AGCP. I’ve had a couple of clients, one I enjoyed working for and another not so much. The employees were overworked, and I could tell it wasn’t the right environment for me. I wanted the people I work with to be my number one priority and to find a role that provided a better work-life balance. So, I joined AGCP in April of 2021, and it’s been the best professional decision I’ve made for myself so far. I enjoy my work and don’t feel stressed leaving work every day – as I did at my old job. Don’t get me wrong, not every day is full of sunshine and flowers, and there are challenges. But it helps that I work with a great group of people who are always ready to work and lift my spirits when I’m having a rough day.

One of my favorite things about being a recruiter is giving folks a chance to start on a new path in their life. I talk to many people who don’t have experience with consulting or project management but are interested in transitioning to those careers. As a recruiter, I’m able to give them that chance.

What’s the best piece of professional advice you’ve ever received?

“Closed mouths don’t get fed” – To me, you must be proactive when you want something. For example, I want to have the best and most up-to-date LinkedIn profile. To do that, I ask my managers and colleagues for recommendations and endorsements on LinkedIn. This not only helps with marketing myself but also helps to promote AGCP. Always remember to vocalize your wants and aspirations to your managers and mentors. They can support you and provide the knowledge you can use to improve your craft.

If you could only eat one cuisine for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?

I love this question because I am a total foodie! If it came down to one food for the rest of my life, it would have to be seafood boils. It may not be practical since seafood boils can be pricey and sometimes hurt my stomach, but I love them – specifically, the seafood boils from Crawfish King in Seattle. I could eat that forever and never get bored of it!

Thank you, Isabella, for your hard work and continued dedication to AGCP. We’d love to chat if you’re interested in joining our team of outstanding consultants! To learn more about our openings at the firm right now, click here. We look forward to hearing from you soon!
