Our Insights

Celia Kennedy, Principal
We’re honored to showcase our team’s diversity, talents, and interests at AG Consulting Partners. For this month’s spotlight, meet Celia Kennedy, Principal from our Expert Workforce. Discover how a compassionate outreach during the pandemic shaped her AGCP experience, and why she’s keeping her colleagues in mind this Thanksgiving.
What’s your background, and where did you grow up?
I grew up as an “Army Brat,” moving around Europe and the US. I’ve lived in about seven countries and ten states in the US. The most extended place I’ve lived in is the Pacific Northwest; first moving here as a teen. I left to attend university and live in Barcelona before making my permanent return.
My professional background is quite varied. I started my professional experience with technical writing and tool design for naval submarines and then worked as a software tester for a global tech company. I later went back to school for landscape architecture and urban planning, leading me to work on many city park design projects. Somewhere along the way, I took up writing fiction novels and pursued a certificate in developmental editing. Eventually, I found my way to AGCP, where I continue to leverage my technical writing skills.
Outside of work, what’re some of your interests or hobbies?
My current interests include painting and singing in a women’s choir. I enjoy experimenting with different mediums when I paint, often creating mixed medium pieces and pulling influences from architects I’ve studied. While I intend for my art to gear toward realism, it often becomes more abstract throughout the process.
I’ve been singing for about fifteen years now. I previously sung with the Bellevue Women’s Choir, but as of 2019, I’ve joined the Seattle Ladies Choir. We focus on empowering songs, singing everything from Rhianna to Guns N’ Roses. I’ve become more involved in the community and I’m excited to share that I’m now sitting on the board of the Seattle Ladies Choir.
Tell us about your experience at AGCP.
It’s been an incredible experience. AGCP did a fabulous job of keeping our community connected during the pandemic. The social events the company hosted helped create a warm and friendly atmosphere, translating into a close-knit virtual community. I was also touched by the compassion from a partner at the firm who, knowing that I lived alone, checked in on me throughout the lockdown. It’s been great having a supportive group of colleagues to work with and learn from, ultimately delivering better results for our clients.
What’s the best piece of professional advice you’ve ever received?
When I was sixteen, my boss told me, “You’re going to make one mistake a day, so make it in the morning.” It was very comforting to hear my boss acknowledge that we all make mistakes. An equally good piece of advice I later received further built on this point. It was along the lines of “when you make a mistake, you need to own it. Be honest about it and learn from it.” Those two concepts stood out and have stuck with me ever since.
This Thanksgiving, what’re you thankful for?
First and foremost, I’m thankful for the health of my family. This year is extra special for us with the addition of my grandson. I’m also grateful I could finally travel, decompress, and spend time with family and friends. Whether visiting my daughter in Montreal or relaxing on the beaches in Mexico, my travels felt rejuvenating and gratifying.
Lastly, I’m incredibly thankful to continue working with invested and engaged people who bring positivity to the work environment.
Thank you, Celia, for the drive and dedication you bring to the team.
